Air/water heat pump

CAN BE USED ANYWHERE AND IS AVAILABLE INDEFINITELY

The most common heat pump is the air/water heat pump or also called air heat pump, because it can be easily installed without much effort. Whether for heating, cooling or domestic hot water preparation, the air/water heat pump from alpha innotec is available for almost every application and every need, for new buildings as well as renovations.

AIR - THE IDEAL HEAT SOURCE

As the elixir of life par excellence, air is indispensable. Nevertheless, it provides us with numerous other services: one of them is the natural heat present in the air, which we can harness with air/water heat pumps. Air is also available in unlimited quantities and can be easily tapped, making it a particularly reliable source of energy.

How does an air/water heat pump work?

The air/water heat pump draws in the outside or room air via a fan and passes it on to the evaporator of the heat pump. The refrigerant circulating in it absorbs the energy and evaporates even at low temperatures. The gaseous refrigerant is compressed in the electrically driven compressor, further raising the temperature. After the refrigerant has reached the desired temperature level, it flows further to the condenser, releasing its heat to the heating system. The recovered heat can finally be used for the house. The cooled refrigerant flows through the expansion valve and is liquefied again.

Air/water heat pumps for outdoor installation

Air/water heat pumps for outdoor installation are the most commonly installed heat pumps. They require very little space and can be easily installed, even in densely built-up residential areas. As early as the development phase of new air/water heat pumps, we make sure that the heat pumps operate extremely quietly and achieve all the required sound values.

Air/water heat pumps for indoor installation

Air/water heat pumps for indoor installation are used when it has to be particularly quiet. Air/water heat pumps for indoor installation are located inside the building, either above or below ground level, and are therefore neither visible nor audible from the outside. Two air ducts, perfectly matched to the heat pump, provide the air supply for the heat pump. The heat pump draws in the outside air through one air duct, extracts the heat from the air and blows the cooled air back out through the second air duct.

Active cooling with air/water heat pumps

A reversible heat pump can also actively cool by reversing the cycle - a wonderful function in hot summer months. In this case, it works according to exactly the same principle as a refrigerator. Whether heating, cooling or preparing domestic hot water, the air-to-water heat pumps from alpha innotec are available for almost every application and every need.

Difference between monobloc and split units

SPLIT HEAT PUMP
A split heat pump is characterised by the separation of a quiet indoor part and an air-carrying outdoor part. Here, the refrigeration circuit is split. The evaporator is located in the outdoor unit, while the compressor, the expansion valve and the condenser are located in the indoor unit. Due to the splitting, a refrigeration supply and a refrigeration return must be routed to the two units, which results in a greater installation effort. A refrigeration technician must be commissioned for the installation. Annual maintenance by a specialist is also required for refrigerant contents of 3 KG or more to ensure that the refrigeration circuit is tightly sealed.

MONOBLOC HEAT PUMP
Monobloc heat pumps, on the other hand, consist of a single, compact unit with a factory-assembled and tested refrigerant circuit. This means that no refrigeration technician is required to commission the heat pump. The costs for annual maintenance by a refrigeration engineer can also be saved with the monobloc heat pump.

Advantages and disadvantages of monobloc and split units

Opinions are often divided on the question of whether it should be a monobloc heat pump or a split unit. While some prefer to install monobloc units, others swear by the use of split units. One thing is certain: both variants have convincing advantages, but the disadvantages should also be kept in mind. Ultimately, personal preferences determine the choice of the right heat pump variant.

How loud is an air-to-water heat pump?

That heat pumps cause noise is a widespread myth. It is true that the operation of a heat pump, like any other electronic device, produces noise. However, these are hardly audible or disturbing. Thanks to their innovative sound insulation, alpha innotec heat pumps in particular are barely audible. This also predestines our heat pumps for installation on the living level, e.g. in the utility room or storeroom.
