An environmentally friendly alternative to oil or gas heating

SET YOUR FUTURE - MAKE A SUSTAINABLY GOOD DECISION WITH A HEAT PUMP

More and more property owners are saying goodbye to their oil or gas heating systems in the course of renovation work and are converting to a heat pump.

For good reason: most heating systems in existing buildings/old buildings are outdated and do not work efficiently. If you consider that about 85% of a household's energy consumption in Germany is for heating and hot water, the need for efficient, sustainable and responsible heating systems, such as the heat pump, becomes even clearer. Because with a heat pump, energy losses can be minimized, resources can be saved, costs can be reduced, and the value of the property can be maintained in the long term. And don't worry: converting to a heat pump is much less expensive than you might think. Often, the existing heat distribution systems and building insulation in the old building are already sufficient for operating a heat pump in an energetically sensible way.

Why use a heat pump in a renovation project?

If you consider the advantages for living comfort in combination with ecological aspects, it becomes clear: the performance of a heat pump can hardly be surpassed by other heating systems. The heat pump not only stands for environmentally friendly and efficient heating, but also for a more sustainable future for us and future generations. If a heat pump is also operated with green electricity, it even operates in a completely CO²-neutral way. Of course, this also applies if self-generated photovoltaic power is used for their operation.

Increase in the value of the property thanks to the heat pump

The heat pump not only does good for our climate, but also sustainably increases the value of real estate. This is because the use of a modern and energy-efficient heating system also improves the building's energy performance certificate. In the process, the value can be increased by up to approx. 20,000 euros, while high subsidies and government grants of up to 50% are possible.

Four renovation myths with heat pumps

1. A HEAT PUMP ONLY WORKS WITH UNDERFLOOR HEATING.

Wrong, heat pumps work best with low flow temperatures and operate most efficiently when they deliver their heat over a large heating surface. This can also be done using larger radiators or so-called low-temperature radiators, which have a low flow temperature.

2. A HEAT PUMP ONLY WORKS AFTER A COMPLETE RENOVATION!

Wrong, heat pumps work most efficiently when heat losses through the building envelope are kept as low as possible. Smaller measures on existing buildings are often sufficient to ensure economical operation of the heat pump.

3. A HEAT PUMP REQUIRES A LOT OF ELECTRICITY!

Wrong, heat pumps have a very high level of efficiency due to the additional environmental energy used. Under certain conditions, they turn one kilowatt of electricity into a full 5 kilowatts of heat.

4. A HEAT PUMP IS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN A CONVENTIONAL OIL OR GAS HEATING SYSTEM!

Wrong, even when using a conventional oil or gas heating system, part of the energy required must be generated by a renewable source in order to achieve a certain energy standard. Thus, the use of a heat pump, thanks to current subsidies, is often the most economical decision.

Advantages of a heat pump in renovation

  • Relying on a heat pump make you independent of fossil fuels.
  • The heat pump draws its energy from the environment, requiring only a small amount of electricity. This makes the heat pump a particularly climate-friendly heating system that saves a lot of CO².
  • There are attractive subsidies from the BEG when switching to a climate-friendly heating system.
  • The value of your property will increase in the long run as the building energy certificate improves.
